How to Build Links with ChatGPT: The Complete DigiAssets Guide

So how do you build links with AI (and ChatGPT in particular)?

Link building is a must in any SEO campaign.

I can’t picture an international site in a competitive niche moving up without earning links, whether through quality content, outreach or actively buying links.

We all know the classic ways to get a link: find a link vendor and buy from them, or email a huge number of site owners until one agrees to publish your article for a reasonable price.

But there’s a way to speed things up and reach lots of site owners quickly and easily, using our favorite tool: ChatGPT.

Let’s walk through it step by step.

Step 1: Find relevant sites

The most interesting update OpenAI has made to ChatGPT is web search access.

With web search, you can use AI to look up anything you want. Like a search engine, it searches, filters and organizes everything for you on its own.

At this stage, send ChatGPT the following prompt to get a list of relevant sites:

Search 50 websites that accept guest posts with a link credit. Paid and free publishing. Focus on this niche: [niche]. Respond with the list of domains along with their website names and author names.

Prompt for finding sites

As you can see, ChatGPT will search and pull a full list of sites of varying quality in your niche, mostly ones that accept advertising and guest posts.

ChatGPT response: relevant link sites

You can expand the prompt to ask for more or fewer sites, and run it again and again until you’ve built a large enough list of sites that accept guest posts.

Step 2: Filter

Once you have that list, filter the sites one by one with tools like SEMRush or Ahrefs so you focus only on sites with traffic targeted to your niche, from the right country, and high authority:

Filtering with Ahrefs

Step 3: Outreach

Found a good site?

Now it’s time for outreach.

On some sites this is easy: they already have a “Guest post” or “Write for us” section like this one, and all you need to do is fill out a form:

Contacting a site to get a link

On other sites you’ll have to work a bit harder to find a way to reach the site admin. Usually there’s an email address tucked away on the Contact or About page that you can use to send your link request.

Writing a high-conversion outreach email with ChatGPT

Here too, we’ll use ChatGPT to find the email address:

Find the contact email of this site: domain.com so I can reach out to him for guest posting.

Pulling the site admin's email to pitch the article

Now all that’s left is to reach out to the admin with a compelling email.

Send the following prompt:

Dig in to this website pages and fetch as much relevant information as possible to help with crafting an outreach email with high success chance of reply.
In your search, take into consideration the brand, services or products, tone of voice, authors and about, etc.

Use the information you gathered to craft a high-quality personalized outreach email. Write the email with as much human touch as possible and friendliness.

And get back a ready-to-send email for the site admin:

Now repeat the process with every site you filtered, wait for replies, send follow-ups, negotiate price with the site owners and start winning links 🙂

Building links on sites with content gaps

Finding content gaps on content sites is an important part of outreach. When you send an outreach email, it usually pays to reference specific existing content or missing content, or even broken links your proposed post could fix.

Here we’ll use ChatGPT to find sites in our niche with content gaps we can help fill.

Use the following prompt:

Find 10 websites in the niche of [niche] that has specific clear content gaps that I can reach out to suggest to fill via high quality guest posting.

Writing an email that offers to close the content gap

Prompt:

Craft an outreach email for domain.com to address the content gap and suggest how we can help filling it via high quality comprehensive post. Address the brand, service/product, author, content, name, etc.

Response (the email we got):

Same as before: use ChatGPT again to get the admin’s email address, or submit through the site’s form. If you don’t hear back within a few days, send follow-ups.

Building “social proof” links with ChatGPT

Social proof / profile links mainly contribute to E.E.A.T, more than to domain authority.

When Google sees a range of different “assets” about your brand across the web, it takes your brand more seriously. By building these links from different properties in your niche, you can earn more credit.

To put together a list of these sites, send ChatGPT the following prompt:

Find 10 forums or websites for social proof only in my niche: [niche] that I can easily create profile in with a link to my site for free. Respond with the list of domains along with the website names.

ChatGPT will come back with a list of profile, social and forum sites specific to your niche, where you can quickly open a new profile with a link to your site:

SOCIAL PROOF sites

From here you can easily filter the sites and open profiles with a link to your site on the relevant ones:

Opening an account with a personal profile on forum and social sites

Repeat the process with as many high-authority social and profile sites in your niche as you can. You can also use these sites for Tier 2 links: links that strengthen the real content links you bought and help them gain more authority.

Summary

In a nutshell, these are some of the ways ChatGPT can help us with international link building.

Of course, there are many more steps you can add along the way to fine-tune the whole process, from finding sites to writing the email and so on.

Can you imagine what happens when we add automation to all of this? (Yes, we’re working on it 😉)
